Right now, there are more than 3 million South Africans between the ages of 15-24 classified as NEET (not in employment, education, or training). More alarmingly, over the last decade this age group has experienced a persistent NEET rate of over 30% – highlighting a massive problem facing our young people, our communities and our collective future.
G-CAP’s KIDS MUSIC FUN (KMF) is a bold initiative that tackles youth unemployment head-on. It is a holistic music and arts program that nurtures youth creativity and provides pathways for building resilience, self-confidence, and job readiness. KMF emphasizes youth-led development, co-creation, and ownership, building skills that transition into sustainable economic opportunities.
By developing young people’s skills and entrepreneurship in the entertainment industry using G-CAP’s experience and network, KMF empowers young people to gain career skills and experience by organising, initiating, and participating in music events, opening up new opportunities to them, broadening their horizons, and making a positive, lasting impact on their futures.
